The Covid-19 pandemic saw a rise in demand in bringing consumers directly to the source of their food products. Tawau, Sandakan in Sabah, Malaysia is widely known for their high quality dried seafood produce that are distributed not only throughout Malaysia but also exported globally.
Sam, a barber (The Gerila Barber) hailed from Kampung Batu Putih in Sandakan and had been living in Kuala Lumpur for the past 20 years. With ease of access to high quality dried anchovies (ikan bilis) and shrimp from his hometown he wanted to explore the idea of creating a brand to be able to bring consumers directly to the source of premium quality dried seafood products and indirectly help the people back home.
